Aptamers were discovered at the University of Colorado by Dr. Larry Gold,
SomaLogic's founder, chairman and CSO. The company's team includes many
of the pioneers in the aptamer field, and SomaLogic has developed an extraordinarily
strong portfolio of intellectual property around aptamers and their in
vitro diagnostic and research applications.
SomaLogic has licensed from Gilead Sciences, Inc. the worldwide exclusive
rights to the entire aptamer patent estate for in vitro diagnostics
(Gilead obtained the technology in its 1999 acquisition of Boulder, Colorado-based
NeXstar, Inc.). In addition, SomaLogic owns critical U.S. patents and
applications, and the company continues its research to broaden the applications
of aptamers and establish them as the preferred technology for proteomics.
Patent applications have been filed throughout the world, providing the
basis for the development of a truly global business.
In addition to the select patents below, you can review the
full list of more than 160 issued U.S. patents. You can read the actual
patents at the U.S.
Patent & Trademark Office.
