Larry Gold, Ph.D.

Founder of NeXstar and Synergen
Dr. Larry Gold is the founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer of SomaLogic. Prior to SomaLogic, he also founded NeXagen, Inc., which later became NeXstar Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In 1999, NeXstar merged with Gilead Sciences, Inc. to form a global organization committed to the discovery, development and commercialization of novel products that treat infectious diseases.
During nearly 10 years at NeXstar, Dr. Gold held numerous executive positions including Chairman of the Board, Executive VP of R&D, and Chief Science Officer. Before forming NeXagen, he also co-founded and served as co-Director of Research at Synergen, Inc., a pioneering biotechnology company later acquired by Amgen, Inc. Since 1970, Dr. Gold has been a professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU). While at the university, he served as the chairman of the Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Department from 1988 to 1992.
During his prestigious career, Dr. Gold has received many citations including the CU Distinguished Lectureship Award, the National Institutes of Health Merit Award, the Career Development Award, and the Chiron Prize for Biotechnology. In addition, Dr. Gold has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 1993 and the National Academy of Sciences since 1995.
Dr. Gold also serves on the board of directors of BioForce Nanosystems, BT Pharma, CompleGen, MicroPhage, and the scientific advisory board of Archemix.
Jessica Tuchman Mathews, Ph.D.
President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
Jessica Tuchman Mathews was appointed president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in 1997. Her career includes posts in the executive and legislative branches of government, in management and research in the nonprofit arena, and in journalism.
She was a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations from 1993 to 1997 and served as director of the Council’s Washington program. While there, she published her seminal 1997 Foreign Affairs article, “Power Shift,” chosen by the editors as one of the most influential in the journal’s 75 years.
From 1982 to 1993, she was founding vice president and director of research of the World Resources Institute, an internationally known center for policy research on environmental and natural-resource management issues.
She served on the editorial board of the Washington Post from 1980 to 1982, covering energy, environment, science, technology, arms control, health, and other issues. Later, she became a weekly columnist for the Washington Post, writing a column that appeared nationwide and in the International Herald Tribune.
From 1977 to 1979, she was director of the Office of Global Issues of the National Security Council, covering nuclear proliferation, conventional arms sales policy, chemical and biological warfare, and human rights. In 1993, she returned to government as deputy to the Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs.
Mathews is a director of Somalogic Inc., HanesBrands Inc., and the Union of Concerned Scientists, and a trustee of the the Nuclear Threat Initiative and the International Crisis Group. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Philosophical Society. She has previously served on the boards of the Brookings Institution, Radcliffe College, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Century Foundation, the Surface Transportation Policy Project, and the Joyce Foundation, among others.

In addition to SomaLogic, Inc., Dr. Lillis serves on the boards of several public and privately owned companies, including SuperValu Inc., the nation's 10th largest food retailer and Medco Health Solutions, Inc., the nation's largest PBM. He is also co-founder and managing partner of LoneTree Capital, a private equity group that invests primarily in the communications/information industry and a founding member of Castle Pines Capital, a specialized channel finance provider.
Prior to his board activities, Dr. Lillis served as chairman and CEO of Media One Group, Inc., from 1997 to 2000 and as CEO from 1995 to 1997. He was also dean of the College of Business at the University of Colorado from 1984 to 1985 and professor of business at Washington State University from 1972 to 1980.
Dr. Lillis holds a bachelor's degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in business from the University of Oregon.

Mr. Harold Nussenfeld is a principal with Skye Associates, a private investment firm located in White Marsh, Maryland. Prior to joining the investment management and venture capital field, Mr. Nussenfeld was an attorney in private practice for more than 15 years. In addition to serving as an officer or director of numerous privately held companies, he also held general counsel positions with UniData, Inc., and with Zimmerman International Corp.
Mr. Nussenfeld holds a bachelor of arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif and was the articles editor of the Maryland Law Review.
Alister W. Reynolds

In addition to Somalogic, Inc. Mr. Alister W. Reynolds serves on the Boards of Directors of Genova Diagnostics, an innovator in the field of diagnostic testing; and Healthcare Waste Solutions, Inc., a waste solutions company focused on the healthcare industry. Mr. Reynolds Chairs the Compensation Committees for both SomaLogic Inc. and for Healthcare Waste Solutions Inc.
Prior to these activities Mr. Reynolds served as the Senior Vice President of Operations for Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. For 21 years, ending in 2003, Mr. Reynolds served in a variety of Senior Executive roles for Quest Diagnostics culminating in the very successful acquisition and integration of Smith Kline Beecham Clinical Laboratories into
Quest Diagnostics. Over the course of his career, Mr. Reynolds has held Executive level positions in Strategic planning, Operations, General management, Information technology, Finance, and Communications.
Mr. Reynolds holds a bachelor's degree in Economics/International Relations from Colgate University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Cornell University.
