    SomaLogic, Inc., is looking for a seasoned receptionist to fill a critical communications team role at our growing company. As a member of the SomaLogic communications team, the successful applicant will primarily attend to visitors and deal with inquiries on the phone and face to face. He/she will also be a primary supplier of general information regarding SomaLogic to the general public, clients and customers, as well as helping with internal communications to employees.


    Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Research Scientist

    We are looking for Research Associate or Scientist for our Technology Development group. This R&D position is in the area of infectious disease diagnostics. The Company’s core technology focuses on next-generation aptamers (SOMAmers) as powerful affinity reagents to detect and measure proteins with a highly multiplexed platform (SOMAscan).


    Responsibilities:

       • Protein purification in recombinant or native form (small scale)

       • Selection of SOMAmers as specific binding reagents (SELEX)

       • Biochemical characterization of SOMAmers, including the determination of affinity, on/off-rates

       • Optimization of SOMAmers via truncations and post-SELEX modifications

       • Diagnostic assay development and validation

       • Assist the Assay Team with sample receiving, handling, and testing.


    Requirements:

       • Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or similar area of life sciences (PhD preferred).

       • Experience in experimental and analytical procedures related to protein and DNA chemistry, such as  immunoassays, oligonucleotide chemistry, and gel electrophoresis/purification

       • Good interpersonal skills

       • Good oral and written communication

  • Software Developer, Contract-to-Hire

    We are looking for an experienced developer for a growing Biotechnology Company.  The Company has developed a comprehensive suite of custom database and data analysis applications. This person will maintain current web-based applications and work with scientists to add new features related to laboratory workflows. 


    Responsibilities:

       • Independently design, code, and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes. 

       • Interact with key partners and internal users regarding timelines, technical issues, and infrastructure integration. 

       • Define, design, and implement, multi-tier object-oriented distributed software applications. 

       • Analyze and suggest improvements in the overall development process. 

       • Construct design documents and documentation to aid in maintenance and code reuse. 

       • Contribute to the design and implementation of databases.


    Requirements:

       • Excellent interpersonal skills.

       • Excellent oral and written communication.

       • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Technology or related field or equivalent work experience. 

       • Experience in requirements analysis, design, coding and unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications in Windows and UNIX environments. 

       • Prior experience in object-oriented design methodology and application development in JAVA and J2EE, including JSF, Spring and Hibernate.  

       • Demonstrated proficiency with an IDE (e.g., eclipse and the Java debugger).

       • Experience with web development: CSS/HTML/JavaScript/AJAX. 

       • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of J2EE, object-oriented design, relational databases (Oracle), SQL, and recent Java Web frameworks.

    Primary responsibilities for this position involve patent preparation, coordination of patent prosecution and related matters with outside counsel, and the conduct of patent searches.


    Key job responsibilities:

       • Drafting patent applications

       • Managing and overseeing domestic and international patent prosecution

       • Assisting in the management of a substantial patent portfolio

       • Conducting patent searches

       • Other IP matters


    Qualifications:

       • Excellent written and oral communication skills required

       • Exceptional organizational skills

       • Ability to manage resources to maintain aggressive timelines

       • Self-motivated and detail oriented

       • Enjoy working collaboratively as well as independently in a fast-paced, unstructured environment


    Education and Experience:

      • Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field

      • Minimum of 5 plus years of biotechnology patent preparation/prosecution experience in a law firm or corporate patent department

      • Registration to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office
